announces cooperation with the satellite receiver manufacturer
BroadLogic Inc. deuromedia will combine easy access to multimedia
content via "the viewer" with high bandwidth satellite
reception to provide a unparalleled multimedia experience.
By cooperating with BroadLogic the convergence between conventional
entertainment and desktop broadcasting functionality is now
a reality..
SYSTEMS 99, Munich, October 1999 - deuromedia, leading provider
of broadband solution software, announces its cooperation
with BroadLogic at Systems 99. The multimedia user interface
"the viewer" for the reception of digital infotainment
content will be available in a bundle with BroadLogic's Satellite
Express 2030 DVB receiver.
By bringing high bandwidth satellite reception to the PC,
Television, computer applications, and Internet content is
seamlessly combined on "the viewer" delivering a
true "convergence" experience. On a monitor of his
choice - either TV or PC - the active user is provided with
a unique interactive experience featuring a wide variety of
content via "the viewer's" unique interface.
"the viewer" overcomes the limits of conventional
terrestrial access technologies by applying the DVB Standard
(Digital Video Broadcast) and the ASTRA satellite system in
transmitting multimedia contents to the user's home screen,
thus granting access to a new dimension in digital and personalised
infotainment.

Availability and hardware requirements of "the viewer"
The BroadLogic bundle with the DVB card and "the viewer"
will be available from the first quarter of 2000 on via authorised
dealers. System requirements include: 133 MHz Pentium processor,
32MB memory, at least 200 MB free board capacity, a sound
card and Windows 95 or 98 or Windows NT Server/ Workstation,
as well as a satellite receiver with Universal LNB and optional
Internet access. In Europe of the about 166 million TV households
already 27 million use a satellite receiver aligned to the
ASTRA satellite system and are equipped with this infrastructure
for access to the new digital multimedia world via "the
viewer".
