CeBIT 2000: "the viewer" release 1.0 is available now

Just in time for the CeBIT 2000 "the viewer" 1.0, a product of the German software power house deuromedia - the viewer company, opens the door to a new multimedia dimension offering a new interactive experience potential. The innovative multimedia browser for digital TV and PC paves the way for a new business and infotainment highway, combining the quality of digital TV with the interactivity of Internet and applying new broadband transmission technologies.

With "the viewer" the convergence between PC, TV, video, radio and Internet has now become reality. Along with strategic partners the next generetion´s total concept of Internet will be presented live on the CEBIT 2000. As from now on a beta release of the multimedia portal can be downloaded from www.the-viewer.de.

Hannover, CeBIT, Februar 2000 - deuromedia - the viewer company, leading provider of broadband solutions software, announces the availability of the first release of the innovative multimedia browser: "the viewer" for the CeBIT 2000.

Since the beginning of February, all those interested can download a beta release of the software from "the viewer" web page to get an impression of the opportunities offered by the individualised infotainment highway in broadband transmission quality.

"the viewer" is the multimedia browser created for end users side, which is part of an advanced overall concept for the new business and infotainment highway. To curb the information overkill, the end user is enabled to select and compose PC and TV contents in accordance with his personal interests.

Applying the broadcast principle the contents chosen are delivered automatically via broadband channels just like satellite, ADSL or cable, and are regularly up-dated, administrated and presented in a well structured way by "the viewer".

Currently the user can select among 250 free-to-air digital radio and TV programmes, newsgroups, top Internet sites and, in future, also among web channels presenting news, tele learning, e-commerce and entertainment contents, containing for instance: a travel channel, stock market news, sports´ reports and the weather forecast. In order to achieve a quick turnover of "the viewer", the multimedia browser is distributed in bundles with a number of strategic partners.

Availability and hardware requirements of "the viewer"

As from the beginning of February 2000 "the viewer" will be available free of charge by download from Internet: www-the-viewer.de. The computer user requires a multimedia PC with a 350 MHz Pentium processor, 64 MB RAM, min. 300 MB free memory capacity, sound card, DVB card and Windows 98 or Windows NT Server/Workstation, as well as a satellite dish with Universal LNB and optional Internet access. Or, the TV user has a television set with Set-Top box and DVB card and a commercial satellite dish with Universal LNB at his disposal.
