Deuromedia's City Networks Solution with hybrid IP/DVB Set-Top Boxes launched

Deuromedias City Networks Solution is a powerful end-to-end platform that upgrades carrier networks for triple play broadband services leveraging IP, DSL and fibre technologies.Deuromedias City Networks Solution is a powerful end-to-end platform that upgrades carrier networks for triple play broadband services leveraging IP, DSL and fibre technologies. Voice over IP, Video on Demand, Personal Video Recording, Internet access, interactive multi player games, video conferencing and e-commerce applications enable carriers to open up their services.

At the carrier's head end a multi service management platform manages the entire content and service workflow - from content and service distribution, digital rights management, video on demand over IP, traffic and subscriber management, billing, to a guaranteed QoS (Quality of Service). Dedicated content authoring tools help content providers to commute and encode their content smoothly for IP delivery. The scalable, efficient multi service management platform can easily, reliably and quickly handle the data volume that is generated by the storage of a few hundred movies and above.

The multi service management platform is rounded off by fully IP-based set-top boxes and hybrid IP/DVB set-top boxes which will be available in retail at the end of this year. With the hybrid IP/DVB set-top boxes viewers can take advantage of the full spectrum of free-to-air TV/radio broadcasts from satellite, cable, etc. and the IP based services delivered by the carrier at the same time. These cost-effective hybrid high-end set-top boxes have a full DRM implemented.

"With our hybrid set-top boxes we are on the cutting edge"", said Markus Hiebeler, CTO from deuromedia technologies. "This is a way for carriers to concentrate on really billable and profitable services like voice over IP or Video On Demand instead of spending valuable bandwidth for IP TV. In addition our City Network Solution offers more than just movies on demand and Internet telephony: New on-demand applications with commercials integrated are possible."
